Seasons Greetings Beautiful Blog Readers.
It seems just like yesterday when we walked out of 2016 and ushered in the year 2017. Now, yet again It’s that time of the year when we get so anxious for a new year.
As we Wait for a new dawn and as we get ready to leave behind our terrible experiences and mistakes. It’s that time of the year that we review all that have happened to us all through!
2017 wasn’t one of the best year for me, but it wasn’t one of the worst either. I had a fair share of the happy and sad times the year had presented me with.
A dive into my personal life in 2017
Becoming an Aunt
The most spectacular thing that happened this year was the welcoming of my little niece. The beautiful baby who made me an aunt. Oh, she’s brought lots of joy and laughter to my family. Little Miss Cherish was born on the 9th of January 2017. I definitely can’t wait any longer for her birthday!
Renting an Apartment and Fending For myself in School
In 2016 and earlier this year; I lived with a friend in a not so comfortable apartment which somehow affected me psychologically. But with my little earning activities online, I was able to gather just enough funds to rent me an apartment. Feeding for the another 6months was amazing and for once in my life; I felt extremely independent, a feeling I had always craved for.
Buying a Laptop
Before I got a laptop, I had severally told my parents about my desires to have one, but due to financial constraints, my wish wasn’t granted. On February 2017, I became the proud owner of a laptop. Thanks to my plenty personal hustles online.
You probably wouldn’t see this as an achievement but I do see it as one. I contemplated severally over issues concerning my hair. I have always wanted to transition to my natural virgin hair but opinions from people have always countered my ideas. But on a beautiful day in November, I sat and overlooked what I thought everyone else had to say and chopped of my relaxed hair!
I’m back to my short hair, but they are currently short for a reason. #teamnatural!
Failures and Sad Times
Losing a Friend
In August, I received the shocker of my life when my younger sister broke the news of the demise of a very close friend who had suffered greatly health wise. He struggled to survive and it’s only sad that he couldn’t fight the shackles of death further. I do hope that he is in a better place now.
I Failed to Boost My Academic Performance
I’ve always wished to boost my academic performance, but due to many reasons, I find myself overlooking the fact that I need study to get good grades. Having been in my penultimate this year, I don’t need an angel to tell me how much I need to sit up in my finals.
It’s really not easy when one tries to kill two birds sitting in totally different positions with 1 stone. I’ve made a promise, and I hope that it doesn’t turn out to be one of my plenty non-achieved goals.
Lost my Phone and its data
In late November, I experienced an incident I wouldn’t want even my worst enemy to experience. It all happened like a dream when I, my younger sister and my sister-in-law headed home from my mother’s shop. We were attacked by 2 shady and hungry looking boys, each wielding machetes. We were relieved off our belongings. Although it was devastating, I was grateful that we left the scene unharmed. I lost my data and files but I’ve gotten over everything now.
I lost to anxiety, procrastination and shyness
These three entities have ruled my life for a couple of years, and I am not proud to say them. I do say them out because I’m ready to drop them behind but to do that, I need to work on that part of me which have always wanted to become shameless.
I’ve fought procrastination, shyness and anxiety and, it’s obvious in most of my blog posts. I’ve come to realized that I can’t move forward if I let these entities rule my life further than they have done.
A dive into my Blogging and Online life
I pictured this year to be great when I published a post about MY BLOGGING RESOLUTIONS.
Everything I did and didn’t write there, I truly wanted. I wanted to achieve all I felt I desired. But in all, although not proud to say, I did little or nothing in making a couple of my resolutions for the year accountable for.
Definitely, every year sees lots of resolutions and goals that are often never worked towards or achieved. Yes, I can not give an excuse but stand solely to be blamed for letting my resolutions go into thin air! 2018 can be better.
Now let’s have a closer look into my Achievements and Failures
2017 was packed with mysteries that I had to unravel as days turned into weeks and weeks into months. I met with quite a lot of failures especially in blogging. I couldn’t achieve a goal amongst the goals slatted in my 2017 blogging resolutions but then, I met with something great which you will discover as I unravel my failures and achievement.
One of the major achievement this year in my blogging life is maintaining my domain name. Obviously I got to realize the importance of maintaining a domain name and right now, my domain is an aspect of my life, I term priceless. It definitely has a great role to play in my journey, in the nearest future.
Getting Adsense Approval
Oh well, this might not be an achievement for many, but I was able to get an Adsense account approved for my blog after many trials. Not much of an achievement but it has to be here.
In August I moved my blog from blogger to wordpress which have helped me in improving the managing of my blog. It was a welcome development for me and it was well overdue. But then, there was absolutely nothing wrong with my blogging experience in blogger.com
This obviously is my greatest online achievements in the year 2017. I discovered and understood steemit quite late but that isn’t the case. The fact that I was able to bump into the amazing platform is just enough to be grateful.
Without beating about the bush, I will gladly tell anyone who reads this that my earnings from steemit helped me in getting a new smartphone after the previous was stolen.
With steemit, you do not need to worry over Adsense, CPA or affiliate marketing. So long you can write meaningfully and not plagiarize, you can join the steem community.
Investing in cryptocurrency
If you do not know that digital currency is the next big thing, then I guess you should know now! You know; I became aware of the massive growth attained by bitcoin, and realizing how much of a wimp I’ve been, decided to buy a few altcoins now that they are in their development phase. Hopefully 2018 will be a big year for me in cryptocurrency.
Failures in my blogging
I didn’t improve in my blogging activities as I stated in my 2017 resolutions as I was only able to increase my social reach by roughly 9%. A tiny achievement I must say. I haven’t been able to leverage the much that Pinterest had, neither was I able to garner more likes on my facebook page and follows on twitter and instagram profiles.
Improving in my postings was another failure, but discovering the power of steemit in November has given me a stand in improving my blogging activities both here and on steemit. I would have to manage both because each has got a place in my heart. Did I improve in my blogging skills? I wish I did, but I’m still working on that.
I wasn’t able to come up with blogging ideas as much as I wanted to. And about my older posts, I did go back to a few of them, but not as much as I wanted to.
Failing In CPA
I always had eyes on the famous CPA (cost per action). I know how much of a gold mine CPA is but I haven’t been able leverage the great earnings possibility it has to offer. I’ve read courses, asked questions from people whom I know do will with the method of making money online, but I haven’t been able to get that missing piece in place! I’m not giving up just yet.
Not improving my writing Skills
I’m not a very bad writer, but improving my writing skills is something I’d want to happen in 2018.
Oh well, an overview of my 2017 physically and virtually…
As We step out of 2017, I wish each any everyone a successful year ahead… Stay safe in the remaining part of 2017.
